On July 22, President of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted a working session dedicated to issues concerning the major events of Kazan 1000-anniversary and the Republic’s Day celebrations.

On July 21, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev received Ilgiz Minullin, the Head of RT office of Federal Service for Control Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Circulation. Ilgiz Minullin was appointed by RF President V.V. Putin decree on July 9, 2005.

On July 21, after the Holly liturgy at the Annunciation Cathedral of Kazan Kremlin Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexi II thanked senior officials of the republic and the city for supporting spiritual revival of the Kazan Eparchy.

On July 20, a meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexi II was held in Kazan. The Patriarch took around the Annunciation Cathedral and Kul-Sharif Mosque during his visit to Kazan Kremlin.

It has been decided at the level of RT Government and RF Ministry of Education and Science to establish such a university. It is created though merger of Kazan State Pedagogical University with Tatar State Humanities Institute and Tatar-American Regional Institute.

On July 13, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev met with popular Russian actress Chulpan Khamatova in the Kazan Kremlin.

As RT President Mintimer Shaimiev stated, “There should be no differences between children education in a city and in a village”. He congratulated citizens of Novoe Alimovo village on opening the Culture-and-Sports Centre after its reconstruction.
