August 20 President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev live on air of radio station "Mayak answered the questions of radio listeners. The next program of Yuliy Semenov People and authority: questions and answers" was devoted to the 1000-anniversary of Kazan.

On July 17, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev participated in the opening of Kazan Outpatient Dialysis Centre, created by Dutch company “Euromedic International N.V.” on the base of Interregional Clinic-Diagnostic Centre.

On July 12, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev participated in the opening ceremony of Tatar State Humanities-Pedagogical University (TGGPU) main building and the monument to outstanding Tatar composer Salih Saidashev.

On August 8, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in N.Novgorod oblast Governor’s inauguration ceremony. Valery Shantsev, newly appointed Governor, took the oath at the extraordinary session of the regional Legislative Assembly at the armorial hall of N.Novgorod fair.

On August 5, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev held a meeting with representatives of the European Muslim world in Kazan Kremlin.

A traditional meeting of Tatarstan teachers in the year of Kazan 1000-anniversary obtained an international status. Representatives from Germany, Turkey, Kazakhstan education executives from Bashkortostan, Karelia, Udmurtia, Republic Saha (Yakutia), Kaluga, Moscow, Kirov and many other oblasts of Russia gathered at the meeting. Deputy Chairman of Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the European Council Gunther Krug (Germany) was an honorary guest of the conference.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev considers the equalisation policy prospectless. He is sure that the time has come to get away from finance-economic levelling of the RF subjects .
