President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev received a congratulatory telegram from President of the International Union of exhibitions and fairs of the CIS and Baltic countries, vice-chairman of the European branch of the Union of International fairs (UFE), director general of JSC "Lenexpo" Sergey Alekseyev on occasion of the exhibition centre JSC "Kazan fair" joining the UFE as a full member.
"I hope that this significant event will further increase the prestige of the Republic of Tatarstan at the international scene" the telegram says.

On November 13, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with Head of Southeast Department of the Federal frontier service of Russia general-lieutenant M.Oganesyan in the Kazan Kremlin. The trip to Tatarstan of M.Oganesyan has a fact-finding character.

The concept of reforming of the housing and communal services was the main theme of the republican working meeting presided by Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev on November 12 in the Kazan Kremlin.

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev holds that the Russian mass media should independently develop uniform rules of journalistic ethics and professional behaviour in emergency situations. Any intervention from the outside in these issues from the part of authorities will not be perceived to the full by all journalistic community and, accordingly, these rules will not be carried out by all, as the majority of the Russian mass media for today are independent, - M.Shaimiev stated in interview to "Interfax" .

November 4, Kazan Kremlin, the President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has received the representatives of the company "Metro Cash & Carry " headed by its director general Herbert Tzlabinger.
During a meeting the arrangement was achieved that the first shop "Metro Cash and Carry " will appear in Kazan in 2004.

On October 31, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev in the Kazan Kremlin presented the state awards of the Russian Federation and Republic of Tatarstan for the worthy labor to scientists, teachers, heads and workers of the largest enterprises of the republic.

On October 24, during his press-conference at the international airport "Kazan", M.Shaimiev commented upon the results of his participation in session of the State Council of the Russian Federation devoted to the problem of reforming of the local self-government.

During his press-conference at the airport “Kazan” Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev called hostage taking by a group of terrorist in Moscow a long-to-heal bleeding wound of the Russian Federation.

On October 22, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev received in his residence General Consul of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan Ismail Sefa Yujeer.
Mr. Yujeer started his work as General Consul on October 1. Until then he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, as vice-consul of the Embassy in Los Angeles (USA), secretary of Embassy in Teheran (Iran) and councillor of the embassy in Almaty (Kazakhstan).

Opening of the bridge connection across the rivers Kama, Arkharovka and Kurlyanka in Tatarstan was held on October 18. Among the participants of the grand meeting were Tatarstan President M.Shaimiev, RF Minister of transport S.Frank, RF Minister of property F.Gazizoullin, RT Prime Minister R.Minnikhanov, Chairman of the RT State Council F.Mukhametshin, RT Minister of transport and roads V.Shvetsov, other officials.
