On behalf of "not new, but newly-elect" Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev has greeted Russian and Tatarstan journalists at the press-conference, held in the Kazan Kremlin on the following day after elections of the President of Tatarstan - March 26.

The victory of Mintimer Shaimiev on the elections in Tatarstan does not rise any doubts. According to data received of 13.30 p.m. on March 26 by Central Election Committee of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev gained 79,52 %.
Deputy of RF State Duma FS RF Sergey Shashurin and received -5,78%, and deputy of RF State Duma FS RF Ivan Grachev - 5,47%, Leader of Local Communist Party Robert Sadykov - 4,43% and First Deputy of the Head of administration of Zelenodolsky district Alexander Fedotov - 0,49% of voices. 2,84 % of voters were against all candidates. Altogether 79,39% of voters, entered in the lists, took part in the voting.

On March 25, presidential elections took place in the Republic of Tatarstan. The polling stations were open for voting from 7 a.m. till 9 p.m.
According to preliminary data of 8:30 MSK, 77,36 % of voters, included in the lists, took part in the elections. 96 % of ballot-papers have been already worked up. М.Shaimiev gained 79,36 % of voices, deputies of RF State Duma Sergey Shashurin and Ivan Grachev - 5,82 and 5,52 % respectively. Secretary of Republican Committee of Tatarstan Communist Party Robert Sadykov received 4,44 % and First deputy of the Head of administration of Zelenodolsky district Alexander Fedotov - 0,49 % of voices. 2,84 % of voters were against all candidates. Being in Tatarstan vice-president of the RF Center Election Committee, Valentine Vlasov said "the elections in the republic passed in a quiet and well-organized way, without serious breaches".

The Rehabilitation center for children - invalids works in Kazan already for seven years. For that time it has helped hundreds of children with restricted physical capabilities. On March 23 Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev visited this center.

On March 22, the RF Presidential Plenipotentiary to the Volga federal district Sergei Kiriyenko, on his tour of Tatarstan, arrived in Kazan. In the Kazan Kremlin he met with RT President Mintimer Shaimiev to discuss problems of economic integration of the district.

Today RТ President Mintimer Shaimiev and president of ОАО "Gazprom" Rem Vyakhirev have signed a cooperation agreement between the Republic of Tatarstan and ОАО "Gazprom" for five years.

Within two days the III Republican Student Congress in Kazan tackled issues of social protection, employment, housing conditions of students, role of public organizations, conditions for scientific activity and other. The plenary session was held on March 21 with participation of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev.
