April 26, the programme of reconstruction of venues in the ancient city of Bolgar and the island city of Sviyazhsk was presented at the Kazan Kremlin in presence of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Tatarstan State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, ministers and head of districts also took part in the meeting.

April 23, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev and Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky visited the exhibition of French Art of 17-18th centuries at the Hermitage-Kazan Centre.

The meeting of Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Counsellor of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Duisen Kaseinov, the Director General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, was held at the Kazan Kremlin on April 23.

Solemn ceremony of handing over international certificates to a group of 38 people has been held at Tatar State University of the Humanities and Pedagogy today, April 20. 23 people successfully passed tests in English; 10 people have received a certificate verifying knowledge of Japanese language, 5 – a certificate in methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
The Kazan international airport in 2010 could service a record many passengers, over 1 million people. The airport’s general director Alexei Starostin told it a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to Starostin, the airport’s 2010 business plan provides for an increase in passenger traffic of 13.7 percent, to total 768 thousand passengers. The results of the first quarter of 2010 have however exceed the expectations. Passenger traffic versus the same period last year grew 54.2 percent. “If the trend persists, we could by the end of the year for the first time cross the mark of 1 million passengers,” Alexei Starostin said.

The airport’s revenue in the first quarter of 2010 increased 32 percent, totalling 126 million roubles versus 96 million in the first 3 months of 2009. The business plan stipulates an annual revenue of 580 million roubles, but, the general director said, the current trends raise hopes of the estimates to be substantially exceeded at the year’s end.

German musicians gave the concerts “Organ Traditions of Europe” at Saidashev Grand State Concert Hall on April 20. Klaus-Eduard Hecker (organ) and Ulrike Hecker (flute) performed for Kazan audience. Klaus-Eduard Hecker is a popular organist touring Europe and Japan. He also plays celesta and piano. His wife Ulricke Hecker (flute) accompanies him during concert tours.

Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, met with Vasily Dolgolev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Byelorussia to the Russian Federation, in the Negotiation Room at the Kazan Kremlin on April 19.
The year of 2009 was the most difficult in OAO Kazanorgsintez history, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said at the annual meeting of the company’s shareholders.
One of the most well-known and extraordinary scientific events in the field f theoretical and practical psychology will take place in Kazan in April. The 5th All-Russian Youth Psychology Forum of Russian Psychology Students Association will be held at Kazan University on April 21-25. Over 100 psychologists from all over Russia – Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Yaroslavl, Tambov, Magadan, Volgograd, Arkhangelsk, Yekaterinburg, etc will take part in the forum.
