Further cooperation of the Republic of Tatarstan and the regional railroad company, Gorky Railroad, a branch of OAO “Rassian Railroads” was discussed at the meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and head of the Gorky Railroad Viktor Sekhin. Viktor Sekhin was appointed head of the company about a month ago and this is his first acquaintance with the republic. The interlocutors discussed issues ranging from politics and economy to problems of railroad and regions and prospects of the development.

On August 2, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with the delegation of the State of Kuwait, led by the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Abdullah Maatouq Al-Maatouq.
The parties agreed to exchange visits at the level of delegations. A hall of Friendship between Tatarstan and Kuwait will be opened in the republic. Kuwait will join a series of economic projects in Tatarstan.

On June 26, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Alvaro Gil Robles in the Kazan Kremlin. They discussed a wide range of issues related to the observance of human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan.

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev wired congratulatory telegram to member of Russian national team on track and field athletics Gulnara Samitova. On July 4, representative of Kazan Gulnara Samitova established a world record in the Greek city of Iraklione at the international competitions "Super Grand prix" IAAF "Ciclitiria-2004" in 3000 m. steeplechase run.
Mintimer Shaimiev expressed also confidence, that performance of Gulnara Samitova at the "Memorial of Znamensky's brothers "becomes an ornament of these prestigious competitions", and wished her sound health, happiness, success and new sports successes.

Alekseevsky region of the republic now is headed by new chief - instead of Alexei Demidov who has received the post of chairman of Accounting chamber of the Republic Tatarstan, new head of administration has become Vladimir Kozonkov, well - known economic chief in the region On July 5, extraordinary session of Council of People's Deputies of Alekseevsky region took place where Alexei Demidov officially abdicated responsibility of chairman and President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev presented new head of administration.

Moscow, horse race for Prize of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took place at Central hippodrome. Horse race has been attended by Presidents Iklham Aliev, Robert Kocharyan, Mikhail Saakashvili, Nursultan Nazarbaev, Askar Akayev, Vladimir Voronin, Emomali Rakhmonov, Islam Karimov, Leonid Kuchma and by heads of republics, oblasts and territories of the Russian Federation.
