Innovation activity of educational institutions of Tatarstan was in the spotlight at the Republican August conference of teachers, chaired by RT President Mintimer Shaimiev in Elabuga on August 21. Every third resident of Tatarstan is a pupil or student; that is why each family gets involved in educational issues. Today’s innovation processes in the republic directly depend on the quality of cadres in schools and special and higher educational institutions.

On August 20, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev opened the Tatar school No.1 fro 450 pupils in Elabuga. This day will also see opening of Shishkin’s Art School. The Art School will have an exhibition hall and oven for modeling. Three hundred pupils will be able to attend the school. The republican August pedagogical conference of education management officials of Tatarstan will also start on August 20 and will be attended by RT President Mintimer Shaimiev.

On August 19, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev visited Tukaevsky district of the republic. He was accompanied by RT Minister of Agriculture and Foodstuff Marat Akhmetov, Head of Naberezhnye Chelny city administration Ildar Khalikov, Tukaevsky district Head of administration Tagir Kharmatullin. The number one in the President’s agenda was visit to OAO “Voroshilovsky” where he familiarized with the situation in harvesting of vegetables and grain-crops.

The President of Tatarstan met with the Rector of the Russian Academy of Justice. On August 16, President Mintimer Shaimiev received Rector of the Academy Valentin Ershov in the Kazan Kremlin. The Russian Academy of Justice was found in 1999 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The founders are the RF Supreme Court and Higher Arbitration Court. The Academy is a state-run educational institution of higher professional education, preparing legal specialists, doing qualification upgrading and retraining judges, officials of general jurisdiction and arbitration courts, etc.

On August 10, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with President & CEO of LG International Corp. Mr. Byung-Joo Keum in the Kazan Kremlin. The participant of the meeting focused on issues of realisation of joint projects in petrochemistry and oil processing. We work with many companies in the world, thanks to what a number of projects in the sphere of petrochemistry have been implemented in the republic, Mintimer Shaimiev said. The result is a 12-18 growth per annum in that sphere.

Further cooperation of the Republic of Tatarstan and the regional railroad company, Gorky Railroad, a branch of OAO “Rassian Railroads” was discussed at the meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and head of the Gorky Railroad Viktor Sekhin. Viktor Sekhin was appointed head of the company about a month ago and this is his first acquaintance with the republic. The interlocutors discussed issues ranging from politics and economy to problems of railroad and regions and prospects of the development.

On August 2, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with the delegation of the State of Kuwait, led by the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Abdullah Maatouq Al-Maatouq.
The parties agreed to exchange visits at the level of delegations. A hall of Friendship between Tatarstan and Kuwait will be opened in the republic. Kuwait will join a series of economic projects in Tatarstan.

On June 26, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Alvaro Gil Robles in the Kazan Kremlin. They discussed a wide range of issues related to the observance of human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, Vice-Prime Minister of Russia and President of Russian Federation of Chess Alexander Zhukov took part in the closing ceremony of the 54th Russian Women’s Chess Championship that took place on July 10. Tatar Grand Master Alisa Galyamova and President of the Chess Federation were acknowledged by memorable medals “State Sport Committee of Russia 80 years”.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev wished a well-known Tatarstan athlete Gulnara Samitova to win a gold medal of the Athenian Olympiad opening 46 International competitions on track and field athletics - the Memorial of Znamenskys brothers at the Central stadium, in Kazan.
